In this chapter we will examine what we have been promised that we can do if we walk in the footsteps of Jesus. You see we have been promised certain benefits for walking with God and since God’s word never returns to Him void it would behoove us to check it out. What’s in it for you? More than you ever dreamed so get comfortable and read.

Before you read this section of Jesus’ sermon on the mount, I want you to realize that these are all areas that you will walk in and at every stage of your walk in God there are blessings on your way and these blessings make it easier as your faith is built on the solid rock of Jesus rather than the sands of time that the physical world will give you, so enjoy your walk with God while you store up riches in heaven that will influence your children and your children’s children down through generations.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. When you came to God you were very poor in spirit, were you not? He gave you a spiritual kingdom that He was the king of. He didn’t say after you died. If you read this closely you realize there isn’t even a hesitation in the reward, “theirs is”, not later but now.

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Who but the comforter could fill this job, so you became acquainted with the Holy Spirit and He turned out to be your best friend didn’t He?

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. The more you learn of God the more meek your spirit becomes. The more self takes a back seat and God begins to bless you materially because you have become more usable to His King­dom.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. There becomes a change in you to where you only want to be right with God and this thirst as you drink of God changes you even more. God begins to flow out of you to the people around you and you in turn are a blessing to the people around you.

Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Is your heart moved with compassion to a stranger? Can you love a complete stranger enough to lay down your life for that person? No, without God you can’t but with God the mercy can flow as a river and fill whatever the need is from food to healing because where the love of God resides the spirit of the Master resides and He can handle every need through you, the willing vessel.

Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. What you have been going through is a purifying process and you can begin to see in the spirit world. You can know God, know what He meant when He did things in the past and as He does things in your life and the people around you. Maybe I should say, “saints,” because He has surrounded you with people who share the love of God and on every level that you go in with God He surrounds you with teachers to help you. Sometimes you are the teacher helping others on their path of righteousness.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Does not peace reign in your temple now? Have you realized yet that nothing that has happened to you was by accident and that God’s hand was in your life from the day you were born and before that. If you move and have your being within God then you only have to please Him and you will remain safe and cozy and at peace with yourself.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. You know the people at the top are always being picked on, that goes with the territory as does dealing with an incorrect and unb­lessed world around you. We have seen saints that were talked about and put down for the message that God had them preaching or teaching and God just keeps blessing them so when people get stirred up against you and you are in the spirit with God then rejoice that He has deemed you worthy to walk in this realm.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. When you come to this place you are walk­ing in the footsteps of Jesus. Miracles and prophecies will flow around you and you have Satan’s attention big time. Stand tall in the spirit of God because He who lives within is the big boss now and nothing is going to come against you that He does not have control over. Rejoice!

Matthew 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Can you see the steps of the spiritual temple Holy Jerusalem, can you see how He hid the secret things of God in the scriptures so only the ones who have a yearning to know God in their innermost being would find their way to Him? Where are you on the steps? I’m sure you will find yourself and wher­ever you find yourselves you are either looking back on bless­ings, still receiving them or, Hallelujah there are more on the way.

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Have you noticed that many times there is a glowing on the faces of saints in the church service. Many times that glow is on you. You know it is by the smiles that come your way in service and the special joy that is way down inside? Well that is the spirit on the inside shining through to the outside and if the world could feel that deep down joy that you have they would beat a path to your door to bottle it. All you need to do is rejoice daily and let this glow that is visible, shine through, for you are hope for a dying world. Laugh with the joy of the Lord and gather his children unto you. Drugs don’t hold a candle to what you have inside and the world needs to see this. Without preaching you are teaching by letting Jesus shine His light through the temple that He inhabits.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Has any of the worry you have ever done stopped anything from happening to you? You know I used to pray before the Lord constantly for my kids and He has shown me my daughters laying on the altar before Him. He said give them up to me and with His help I could do it. It sounds easy to say to give your burdens to the Lord and leave them there but without His help you really can’t do that. He will take you to a place in the spirit that you won’t worry and it won’t hurt a bit.

You need to realize that He holds your finances, your health, your family, and your life. The secret is in KNOWING that He controls all things, ALL things and that Satan can’t do anything that He doesn’t allow. That may not sit good but, nevertheless it’s true, so stop worrying about Satan and start praising God because He controls even the rain that falls on your head. Before you go into prayer He already knows what you need, so just enjoy being in His presence and praise Him for the victory that He is already working out in your favor.

Matthew 18:1-7 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? {2} And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, {3} And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. {4} Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. {5} And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. {6} But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. {7} Woe unto the world because of of­fenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh! Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:18-22 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoev­er ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoev­er ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. {19} Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touch­ing any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. {20} For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. {21} Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. {22} And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the king­dom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. We have promises made unto us by God that are set forth in the scrip­tures. There is a method to understanding the scriptures that is now being revealed to God’s people of which you are. When you can come to Him with full acceptance of who and what He is then the world of the scriptures will open up to you and many times words that you have read before and understood to mean one way He can turn you to see a different way, almost like seeing in 3-D. This is not to say you saw it wrong, for you didn’t. It just means that you see with a different understanding that you have received from Him.

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. To receive this promise you must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. To clarify this, He did not say water baptism, this is a spiritual baptism for your salvation. To be baptized in the name of Jesus is to take on the spirit of the anointed one, TO BE IMMERSED OR BAPTIZED INTO HIS NATURE and the sins will be taken away and you will stand Holy, Holy, Holy before the Lord. Hallelujah! Can you feel the heavens open up to you meaning your understanding. All is not as you’ve been taught but, rest assured if you can draw this into your understanding and eat it you will have climbed up another foundation of the temple. There are twelve foundations of the temple and they are all spiritual and they are within your reach so climb.

Romans 4:24-25 But for us also, to whom it shall be imput­ed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; {25} Who was delivered for our offenses, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 5:1 Therefore being justi­fied by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Peace! Do you remember how the children of Israel lived in peace for forty years when they entered his rest? Romans 5:4- 5 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: {5} And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. The love of God encompasses so much in your life. It allows you to love over all barriers and through this love a giving nature or the heart of a servant can be imparted so you can be used on earth to do the work that Jesus started in you when He hung on the tree. That is, “They which are the children of the flesh,” these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. The children of the promise are the spiritual seed of Abraham, the father of nations , he saw the numbers as the stars of the skies. Can you count the stars? Neither could he but he knew after Isaac that God would do what HE said He would.

Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:16-19 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. {17} And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hun­dred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. {18} For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise. {19} Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. The mediator was and is Jesus and HE is your entrance into His rest.

Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. You were born into bondage because you were born of flesh and because of this without Jesus’ sacrifice you would have stayed in bondage, never being free of Satan’s influence but with the intervention of Jesus you can be totally free of Satan’s control.

Galatians 4:24-26 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gen­dereth to bondage, which is Agar. {25} For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. {26} But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. Galatians 4:28-31 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise. {29} But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now. {30} Neverthe­less what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman. {31} So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.

Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. The yoke of bondage is being tied to an earthly existence, to worrying about money, health, future and past. In most of this you have no control except that God intervenes and gives you rest from all this. Ephesians 1:13-22 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 2:12-22 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the com­monwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: {13} But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. {14} For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; {15} Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; {16} And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: {17} And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. {18} For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. {19} Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; {20} And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; {21} In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: {22} In whom ye also are builded to­gether for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

What the twain is and has been a mystery but understand it was the division between Jew and Gentile and between flesh and spirit and carnal and holy. Yes, all have the right to become the children of God because He broke down the barriers that would keep you out because in the spirit there is neither male nor female, poor nor rich, bond nor free, all are one because He went to the spirits in prison and opened the doors at His death.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: {19} By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Isaiah 61:1 The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; The promise is to you and to all who would enter there. You can’t come to God without His putting the yearning in you for a closer walk and through this closer walk comes a revealing of His plans for you which translates into His promise for you.

Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. Before you were born this rest was established and this promise to you put in place before Adam and Eve were here and sinned. Does it not figure in that even their sin was known before it happened as being likely to happen and a plan was ready before this because it was foretold to Eve that her seed would bruise the Serpent’s head, that was Jesus and He did: now can you doubt the promise made to you? God’s word to you is more depend­able than your next heartbeat.

Hebrews 4:10-11 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. {11} Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. How do you labor to enter in to this rest? You study His word and talk to Him with your whole heart and open up your life to Him, if you will turn to Him, He will change your life and give your life back to you, changed, purified, justified, glorified. and sitting in the right hand of power!
